A car that was stolen from Texas has been located in Arizona.

On Saturday night, a Cottonwood Police officer conducted a check on a vehicle with a Texas license plate. The 1995 Chevy Camaro was reported stolen and the driver, 33 year old Ashley Jacobson tried to escape from the officer by pulling into a driveway on 18th Street near Mingus Avenue. Jacobson, who reportedly returned to Arizona from Texas in the stolen vehicle, was arrested for unlawful use of means of transportation. She also had a felony warrant out of Texas for endangering a child and child neglect, as well as a misdemeanor warrant out of Cottonwood. The passenger, 32 year old Texas resident PJ Proctor was also arrested for a felony parole warrant out of the Texas Department of Corrections. Both Jacobson and Proctor were booked into the Camp Verde Jail.

One week after it received approval from the Prescott City Council, the Hilton Garden Inn project is heading to the Planning and Zoning Commission.

Council has given approval to an agreement that would allow construction of a 101 room hotel at the corner of Sheldon and Montezuma Streets. Before the Prescott Planning and Zoning Commission at 9 tomorrow morning is a rezoning request for the property. According to Planning Manager George Worley, rezoning one strip of property will support development of the proposed hotel by allowing flexibility in parking requirements. The second part of the rezone would convert parts of Granite Creek Park. Redevelopment includes improved trails, an outdoor public meeting space, a children’s play area and space for the Prescott Farmer’s Market. The Commission meeting will be held in City Council chambers on South Cortez Street.

Watch for delays if you travel on I-40 in the Ash Fork area.

ADOT crews are performing crack seal work from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm today and tomorrow. The right lane will be closed on a 2 mile stretch of eastbound I-40 today and the left lane will be closed tomorrow. Also on I-40, ADOT and the Federal Highway Administration are performing bridge deck replacement and repair work on 4 bridges that carry traffic over I-17 and Beulah Boulevard within the City of Flagstaff. The purpose of this project is to replace 3 bridge decks and approach slabs, increase the cross slopes and retrofit a bridge deck with an overlay. Construction was put on hold for the winter season but it’s scheduled to resume this summer for additional paving work.
