Rock removal requires temporary southbound lane closure on Interstate 17 between Sunset Point and Black Canyon City today Monday, Dec. 30

Drivers should plan for delays and allow extra travel time

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for an overnight lane closure on southbound I- 17 between Sunset Point (milepost 252) and Black Canyon City (milepost 248) today (Dec. 30) while ADOT crews remove rocks along the highway that are a potential hazard.

The work is scheduled from 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, to 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31. Motorists should allow extra travel time while the following restrictions are in place:

  • Southbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane (left lane closed).
  • The speed limit will be reduced to 45 mph.

Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment.
