Speed was determined to be a contributing factor to the crash.

On Friday September 22, 2017 at approximately 7:53 P.M. Prescott Police Officers and emergency medical personnel responded to a report of a single vehicle accident in the 900 block of West Gurley Street in Prescott.

Investigating Officers learned that the vehicle, a 2001 Toyota Tundra driven by Denen Veazey, a 49-year-old female of Prescott had been traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on Gurley Street. The vehicle crossed the center line in the 900 block of West Gurley Street and struck a tree before impacting an unoccupied motor home in an adjacent trailer park.

Veazey and a second male passenger sustained serious but not life threatening injuries and were transported to YRMC West in Prescott. Veazey was later flown to Flagstaff for treatment. The current condition of the second male passenger is unknown.

The rear seat passenger, 57 year old Andrew Mettee of Prescott, was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident.

Speed was determined to be a contributing factor to the crash, and investigators are still working to determine if alcohol and/or drugs were also factors.  Anyone with information about the actions or location of the driver and or passengers in this vehicle prior to the crash are encouraged to contact Officer Matt Medina of the Prescott Police Department Traffic Safety Section at (928)777-1900.
