PHS Says Goodbye to Class of 2013 and to Principal Totsy McCraley

28 May 2013

Prescott High School graduates say goodbye.

Not only did Prescott High School graduates say goodbye to the familiar campus, but so did Principal Totsy McCraley.

McCraley is retiring this year after leading Prescott High School for ten years.

When asked how she felt about her last graduation ceremony, McCraley responded, "Excited, because this is a good group of kids. They were sensational. Sad, because it's my last time, I've been in high school for 42 years. To think that this is my last time in high school, it's kind of tough. But, it's time to move on, and I'm ready to move on."

As for her future plans, McCraley isn't quite sure what she's going to do next, "I'll do something - people have big plans for me: Come back as a Badger mascot, lead cheering, that type of thing. But, I will stay busy, and I will stay in Prescott."

And, who knows, perhaps this isn't the last graduation after all. McCraley said she might attend in future years, just to watch the kids graduate. "Probably, I'll sit over there with the faculty, just to make sure that everyone's doing it the way it's supposed to be done."

As for the students that just graduated, McCraley's message was simple. "Congratulations, do great things. You're our future and I'm proud of you."

In the meantime, about 360 graduates received their diplomas. Of that group, 31 were graduates with distinction, which meant they achieved a 4.0 GPA, 24 or more credits and passed at least one AP course. The graduation ceremony was much like those in the recent past, although they had flashlights instead of fireworks. Altogether, Prescott High School students received over $5.7 million in scholarships.

Congratulations, class of 2013.
