Three Candidates Announced for Principal's Position at Granite Mountain

The three finalists for the Granite Mountain Principal position have been announced.

When Granite Mountain's Principal Stephanie Hillig was chosen to replace Prescott High School Principal Totsy McCraley, that left a vacancy at the middle school near Williamson Valley Road.

Assistant Superintendent Joe Howard explains, "After a long 11 hours of interviews and discussion, the Granite Mountain Interview Committee has identified three candidates for recommendation to the superintendent. The candidates were all outstanding."

Howard describes the finalists:

"Mr. Dan Kenley- Multiple Principalships in middle and high school levels in California. Finalist for PHS principalship.

"Mrs. Kristen Lyn-Ivie- Assistant Principal Granite Mountain Middle School. 21 years overall experience at Granite Mountain Middle School. Middle School Social Studies teaching background and elementary teaching background.

"Dr. Rachel Saunders- Principal Justine Spitalny Elementary School, Cartwright School District, Phoenix, AZ. Past K-8 administrative positions in Liberty School District (Buckeye) and Glendale School District."

Interested in getting to know the candidates a little better? There will be an opportunity to meet them in person on Monday, May 13 from 4-6 PM at Granite Mountain Middle School. The public is welcome to attend.

Afterwards Superintendent Dave Smucker and the District Administration Team will interview the finalists and decide who to recommend to the Prescott Unified School District Board.
