PRESCOTT, Ariz., (January 12, 2016) – Yavapai Humane Society (YHS) is offering a PAW-some deal at its “Bark in the Mew Year” Adoption Extravaganza on January 15-17. The adoption fee for dogs and cats will be reduced to just $20.16 in honor of the New Year.*
The adoption special celebrates 3,353 cats and dogs saved by YHS in 2015. Of those lives saved, 767 pets were returned to their owners—the most animal and owner reunions the shelter has seen in a single year since 2011. YHS performed this lifesaving work under a No Kill Ethic, resulting in a 97% live release rate—the highest in Arizona.
The Adoption Extravaganza is an effort to start YHS’ 2016 resolution of finding a forever family for every animal in its care on the right paw, and save even more lives this year. Director of Operations, Lori Richey, urges those who are considering a new pet to think adoption first. “YHS sees so many wonderful pets come through our doors. We shelter animals of almost every age, breed, and temperament imaginable. Visit us and our caring Adoptions Counselors will work hard to find the perfect four-legged friend for you.”
All YHS adoptions include spay or neuter, core vaccinations appropriate for their age, a microchip, and examination by a veterinarian before adoption. Standard adoption fees range from $45 to $120 depending on the age, breed and length of stay. All adopters must still adhere to YHS’ adoption guidelines and application.
