YHS is offering a “pawsome” deal at its Bark in the New Year Adoption Extravaganza on January 22nd – 26th in an effort to fulfill its 2014 resolution of finding a forever family for every animal in its care. The adoption fee for dogs and cats will be reduced to just $20.14 in honor of the New Year (offer does not include puppies, kittens, purebreds and dogs under 15 lbs.).
In addition to reduced adoption fees, the Adoption Extravaganza will be showcasing YHS’ Blue Ribbon Program dogs. The Blue Ribbon Program is an intensive, six-week obedience training program at YHS, developed to give our dogs a head start of adjusting into their adoptive homes. During the event, YHS’ Blue Ribbon volunteers will conduct periodical dog training demonstrations on-site to show off canine tricks and blue ribbon behavior.
“Our community has a wonderful conviction of humane treatment of animals. We welcome Yavapai County to continue that by adopting in the New Year. Support our 2014 pledge to the animals to do everything we can to find each homeless pet in our care a safe, loving and forever home” said Ed Boks, executive director of YHS.
YHS encourages families to come to YHS or the Petsmart Cat Adoption Center and spend some time with an animal and see if it's the right match for them. All adopters must still adhere to YHS’ adoption guidelines and policies.
All YHS adoptions include spay or neuter, initial vaccinations, microchip, and examination by a veterinarian before adoption. Normally adoption fees range from $45 to $120 depending on the age, breed and length of stay.

The Yavapai Humane Society has been serving Yavapai County’s citizens and animals since 1972. YHS has a shelter in Prescott, a Cat Adoption Center in PetSmart, a Thrift Shop and a separate spay/neuter clinic offering low-cost spay/neuters and low-cost vaccinations. In July of 2010, we adopted a “no-kill” ethic which has led to our current live release rate of 97%, making YHS the safest shelter in Arizona.
